- Breathability ratings: Often quoted as moisture vapour transmission numbers. These indicate how much water vapour can pass through a fabric. Breathability helps when active, but real-world performance depends on ventilation and garment design.
- Seam sealing: Fully taped seams are far more effective than partially taped seams. Inspect how zips and cuffs are protected.
