What this category covers and why it matters

Coastal cruising
Expect varied conditions and overnight use. Choose a harness that supports suspension for retrieval, simple but adjustable tethers, and connectors that work with your deck layout. Carry spares for common connectors.
Offshore and remote cruising
Prioritise full-body harnesses, energy-absorbing tethers and multiple robust attachment points. Redundancy, repairability and the ability to replace connectors or webbing away from port become critical.
