That mix gives the place an easy, slightly ramshackle charm: caravanners, cruising yachties and townsfolk all share the deck. For yachts working the Queensland coast, the marina serves a specific and valued role as the freshwater stopover before or after the K'gari (Fraser Island) and Great Sandy Strait cruising grounds, a place to provision, wash clothes, eat someone else's cooking and walk a heritage streetscape.
